A-EON Technology and AmigaKit Buys Amigaworld.net

Greetings,

Some of you may know that AmiWest (an Amiga event) is currently being held in Sacramento, California.

I have not followed the event as closely as usual this year, but will catch up on the news today. I did, however, read that A-EON Technology and AmigaKit bought another Amiga orientated discussion forum, namely Amigaworld.net.

Back in June I wrote this post about these guys buying Amiga.org.

Am I the only one skeptical about this move from two of the “movers and shakers” in the Amiga community? I don’t think so..

To own one discussion forum I can understand, but why do they need two of them? Are they seeking to control the Online Amiga community? Will they buy up what is left of independent forums to use for marketing? What is their agenda? Will they silence their competitors (MorphOS, AROS) in favor of AmigaOS 4.X? Time will show.

I’m a bit worried about what is currently happening, seeing two of the largest Amiga discussion forums under the control of the same company. We’ve seen more strict moderation on Amiga.org and complaints concerning this.. will Amigaworld.net now follow?

I’m sure there will be reactions on this move by A-EON and AmigaKit, so time will (as usual) show what happens.

Thanks for reading and have a nice Sunday. :)
