Early last week I started to have problems with my G5. While it always had a slight tendency to get stuck in “gray screen” (early open firmware) it now started to get stuck in “black screen” (no HD bootup). First day it happened once before work, at the same time it started to get random system freezes. Then I had to restart three times after work (and more freezes). Next day it took some 1o tried before work and after work it didn’t react anymore. It was dead and the “usual suspects” like resetting PRAM and switching HDD to a Mac did absolutely nothing.
On Monday May 25th fro 7:30pm we had the Adelaide Amiga 30 Meeting, celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Amiga in Adelaide! This was hosted by the Adelaide Amiga User Group at Clarence Park Community Hall.
Interesting thing I bought recently on Ebay is a external Amiga floppy disk connector plus cable with integrated floppy drive power supply that can be used to connect a Gotek floppy drive emulator to an Amiga!
I finally got it working - Dual Boot AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition and MorphOS 3.8 now running on my Sam 460CR!
Today Acube Systems released a firmware upgrade for the Sam 460ex and Sam 460cr systems and I quickly rushed to install it on my Sam 460CR. It is nice to get a new firmware so soon after buying the Sam system.
After 9 months of development version 3.8 of MorphOS was finally released on Friday the 15th. Just by looking at the release notes you will see an impressive list of news, bugfixes and improvements. But since I’m a betatester I have been enjoying these improvements for quite some time now, so for me this is more a conclusion rather than something new and exciting.
This week saw the release of MorphOS 3.8, so I quickly fired up the Powerbook G4 to upgrade to the latest version! I also could try out the new support in MorphOS 3.8 for the Sam 460Cr I recently bought - great stuff!
