Apparent Insolvency of Hyperion Entertainment

It appears that Hyperion Entertainment CVBA, the company responsible for the development of AmigaOS 4.0, 4.1 and the upcoming AmigaOS4.2 has been declared insolvent on January 27th, 2015.

As an AmigaOne X1000 owner and active user of AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition, I find it sad that the company will most likely no longer be developing AmigaOS4.2.
I guess this also means that my pre-paid for license for AmigaOS 4.2 (bought with the X1000) will most likely never be supplied to me in the future either...but let's see what happens.
Despite this, I am very grateful though that they did manage to release AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition before this apparent insolvency occurred, which allowed all AmigaOne, X1000 and Classic Amiga (with PPC) owners to benefit from the ongoing development work of Hyperion Entertainment over the past two years (since AmigaOS4.1 Update 6 was released in late 2012). I am glad I got Final Edition at release time, and to be able to run it on my X1000.
Unfortunately, I guess the naming of the latest version as Final Edition was correct after all. Perhaps Hyperion Entertainment knew it would be the last version they would produce...
I am glad to have met some of the contracted developers working for Hyperion Entertainment on AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition at AmiWest 2014 before this all happened.
Whatever else happens in the future, I am grateful to Hyperion Entertainment and the developers for continuing to develop AmigaOS 4.1 until the end of 2014. Who would have thought that in 2014 we would still have active development on AmigaOS! Thanks for all your work.
It has been a lot of fun to use AmigaOS4.1 on the X1000 since 2012, both in Update 6 and Final Edition versions and continues to be fun in 2015 too!
If you want a copy of AmigaOS4.1 Final Edition, I suggest you purchase it as soon as possible since once the remaining stock runs out there may not be any more for quite a while (assuming someone else buys the rights) and or indeed forever if no one does.
It will be interesting to see if anyone takes over and continues AmigaOS4.2 development.
In the meantime I will continue to enjoy using AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition on my X1000 - I hope you do too!
