Hello again,

Hope you enjoyed my last post about gaming on AmigaOS 4.1, which covered the shoot’em up game Battle Squadron. If not, please have a read here. I have lots of ideas of things I want to do with this series, such as making a section with download-links and rankings of the different games. These are all just thoughts, so it’ll probably be a while before something materializes. Now, please read on for… Who Becomes Amiga Guru?

Who Becomes Amiga Guru? (Marko Drag)

This is a small game that is based on the well known TV-show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? Here you’ll get questions about Amiga, AmigaOS, MorphOS, AROS and more! It was developed by an Amiga user with the name Marko Drag. He previously released a puzzle game called Soko4MUI.

The game is pretty straight forward and easy to get into. Installation is a matter of unpacking the archive to a location of your choice. If you’d like to test it out temporarily, you can unpack it to RAM:.

The first thing you’ll see after starting the game is this menu:

Choosing options brings you this:

It is worth mentioning that the game is available in both English and German. I went with English, left the sound ON and entered my first round of the quiz..

Well, I don’t consider being an Amiga Guru a worthless title, so I gave everything to win this contest! It started off very easy with a couple of simple questions, but it got much harder after a while. Here’s a few examples:

Now I’m in trouble! Let’s call someone – that is probably a good idea! (screenshot by Old School Game Blog)

As you can see from the screenshots, the game is true to the style and methods of the old TV-show. Here you can use the 50% elimination tool or call someone to aid you. Above I decided to call Roy Miller (Amiga Roy) and he apparently had too many beers that night. When I tried another round I gave him a second chance and he gave me the correct answer. :) So be careful, calling Amiga Roy can go both ways! Anyway, I did beat the game after a couple of tries, but I will not share the end-game screen here – you must play the game to see it. :D

This game is fun for people who are interested in the Amiga and would like to test their knowledge. It is not a game you’ll be playing for hours, but it’s good for a bit of relaxation. I also think it’ll be a success at an Amiga gathering for example – several people could then compete on becoming the Amiga Guru.

If you’d like to try it out, get it for free at OS4Depot:
