Preordered the FPGA Arcade Replay Board

Hi everyone,

For a long time I’ve been drooling over the news of the upcoming FPGA Arcade Replay board. A while ago I therefore decided to go all in and preorder one, so that I was sure to get one as soon as it went public. It costs a bit, but it is definitely worth it in my opinion.

For those of you who are unaware of what the FPGA Arcade Replay actually is, it is a new board that can act as an Amiga in full or an Atari if you fancy that. It is the Amiga part that is most interesting for me. You can look at it as a new classic Amiga computer, but more modern, fast and versatile. On the official homepage of the product, we can read the following:

The amiga 500 and amiga 1200 chipsets are available at your fingertips. Improvements are available, too, such as higher speed (~68030/50mHz), more chip ram, RTG graphics, and modern sound with AHI support. There are hardware connections for amiga joysticks, ps/2 or usb mouse/keyboard, and even a serial port with midi support.

Here is a picture from the homepage of the board:

As you can see, it is pretty neat. :) This will be my new, and possibly final, classic Amiga computer. Can’t wait to start using it. Someone is also working on a daughter-board for it that allows it to be upgraded further. I haven’t read too much about that yet, but will do when I get the board and have started using it.

The FPGA Arcade fits a mini-ITX cabinet, which I have ready for use (it is now an AROS-computer, but that will change). Should be a good way to house it I think.

I decided to preorder the board from a new Amiga shop down in France. It is called Amedia Computer France and you can find their homepage here. They offer various bundles with this board, so that you can get a complete setup without much hassle. I’m glad I got on their list for the first batch.

Any of you thinking of buying this new toy?

Thanks for reading and for visiting my blog. :)
