AmigaOS 4 Monthly Roundup – December 2024

AmigaOS 4 News – December 2024 Happy New Year everyone! First, I’d like to thank you for visiting the Old School Game Blog and checking out this month’s AmigaOS 4 Monthly Roundup. Today it is December 30th and tomorrow is New Year’s Eve. It’s been a year filled with activity on all Amiga platforms, including the AmigaOS 4 […]

Floppy drive disk detection repair - as not expected

A surprisingly simple repair to a microscopic, but essential problem with an Amiga 1200's floppy drive.

This drive didn't work reliably, and at some point failed completely, not detecting disk media anymore. Only with a little bit of extra pushing on the disk, it would click and start reading, but immediately stop when released. A more thorough inspection was required.

Shisen-Seki and Lopan – Two Mahjong Games for AmigaOS 4

Hi everyone, During the last week or so, quite a few uploads of interesting software has reached OS4Depot. Amongst these are two game ports from Daniel Jedlicka a.k.a Trixie and George Sokianos a.k.a. Walkero. If you enjoy a session of Mahjong, I think you will be right at home with Shisen-Seki and Lopan. Shisen-Seki is […]

A Review of the A600GS from AmigaKit

Hi everyone, Back in the summer, I put in an order for the then upcoming A600GS from AmigaKit. Sadly, I have not been very active since then. Various circumstances also put a stop to blogging. Recently, I’ve had more time and energy to look into this little machine. Thought I’d do a quick write-up about […]

Tiles of challenge

For the German Amiga user in the 1980s and 90s, few computer periodicals could top the Amiga Magazin, published by the company Markt & Technik. The mag was so big in its day that it ran for an impressive twenty-two years before it ceased publication in 2009. Sadly, I don’t speak or read German myself, so the only issue of the magazine I’ve ever owned is the complimentary copy I got when I bought my Amiga 500.

Great Duck Race Train trip

There is an interesting yearly tradition in the country town of Strathlbyn, a short drive from Adelaide. It is called the Great Duck Race. I haven't never seen it before now, despite living in Adelaide since 1994!

Some Mega65 updates in 2024

I had hoped to do a little bit more with my Mega 65 computer in 2024, after my previous Mega 65 blog posts I did here and here, but work and family commitments limited my free time.

One really important thing I did do this year, was to upgrade the Slot 0 core to the latest Mega65 firmware.

Atari 7800+ has arrived

At the beginning of this year I bought the new Atari 2600+ console, looking forward to using my homebrew and old Atari 2600 carts in it.

Sadly I was disappointed, as per my blog post here - a lot of titles didn't work at all.

Fast forward to December 2024, and they have now released the Atari 7800+ console. Does it work any better? Let's find out!

Amiga Games in 2024

I realise that recently I have been focused on blog posts for my Retro PC builds (Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3), but rest assured Amiga has never left my attention in 2024 - I have got and played lots of interesting software for Amiga this year!
