The Armiga Project: Lack of Funders
Hi guys,
Some of you may remember me writing about the Armiga Project a couple of months ago. If not, please have a look here to read more about it. :)
The guys behind the Armiga launched a fund-raising campaign on Indiegogo to get enough funds to start developing this new machine. Sadly it does not seem they will be able to reach their goal. It is only five days left of the campaign and they are about $100.000 short.
Due to this, the developers posted an announcement recently explaining what will happen in the future. Thought I’d share it with you here:
Dear friends, the last week of our Indiegogo campaign has started!
As it’s quite clear we won’t make it to the $140.000 goal that would have let us make a big first batch, all the money will be returned.
However, we think the market is bigger than shown in the campaign and many people prefers to wait until “Armiga goes for sale”. We want to get the most precise measure of the market in order to plan the future of the Armiga.
So, if you are interested in the Armiga and would buy it when it goes on sale, please claim it here. Remember, all the money will be returned, but we want to make the biggest possible hit in order to get private fundings for starting production.
Thank you very much,
The Armiga Project Team
It’ll be interesting to see what will happen with the Armiga in the future. There is, no doubt, a considerable interest in such a device, so there should be a market for it. However, the costs of making the system, advertising, taxes and fees and so forth does require a large amount of secure buyers to break even or make profit. I wish them the best of luck and hope they’ll succeed in their efforts.
What is your opinion about the Armiga? Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks in advance.
PS: Here is a picture of the specs:
