Hi guys,

Having a CD-ROM drive for the Amiga is a great. Having a huge stack of CD-s to sort through is nothing sort of blessing. So much cool stuff to check out, sort and organize! Here is a picture from my collection..

I probably haven’t told you this yet, but I started fresh with my HD a few days ago. Made a backup of DH0: (the System partition where the OS is), as well as various games and tools, and re-partitioned the whole thing. I’m pretty sure this new setup will last for months, if not years, since I’ve carefully determined the size of the partitions for future needs. As an example,  I’ve increased my music partition since I’m going to get quite a few MP3’s when AmigaKit launches their Prisma sound-card for the Amiga. ;)

Because of this I’m now looking through various CD-s I have for stuff. It is quite fun and I tend to find something new to check out. It’s strange, but even sound-samples are fun on the Amiga – especially with speech. On the PC I’d never play them, but for one reason or the other, some lines from an Arnold flick on the Amiga is fun. Maybe some of you feel the same? I don’t know of any other platform having so much good stuff in terms of Public Domain (PD) and Shareware as the Amiga.. there are tons upon tons of really cool things, games, tools, you name it.

Now, here’s a few pics of my Amiga CD-collection:

This is Aminet 8. It contains hundreds of MB's of Amiga stuff. This was actually my first Amiga CD ever!! (photo by Old School Game Blog)

This is indeed an EPIC collection. Contains tons of cool PD/Shareware to wade through. Nicely setup with MagicWB and stuff ready to run - including the game Klondike AGA with many additional card-sets!

15.000 clip-arts. Do I need to say more? Useful for DTP, as well as various programming projects one lacks graphics for. ;)

I've had this CD for 14 years. I got it in the mail from a Polish Amiga-friend back then. His nickname was Amifan. Such a great gift, filled with cool demos! :)

If you’ve got an Amiga and think you are set since you’ve got a network card and Internet access, then I say you are missing out on the CD-ROM thing. ;) Sometimes it is good to plug out of the Internet, forget about e-mails, daily news and the Internet bank not working again for the tenth time that day.. it is like meditation to fire up an old computer and sit in peace without worrying or paying attention to that kind of stuff.. just browsing files, checking out some fun games, customizing Workbench just like it was 1995 again will bring you some need joy and relaxation. ;) At least, that is what I feel. :D Anyone else feeling the same with your retro computing/gaming hobby?

Thanks for visiting my blog and have a good one – with or without Internet on your retro computer/console of choice.
