FLAC, AirPrinting, Wafflecopy real floppy disks and more on A1222
It has certainly been fun re-acquainting myself with the AmigaOne A1222 and catching up on what I have missed in 2025.
I also take a look at GoVD virtual desktops, MediaVault and RNOPDF under AmigaOS 4 on the A1222. Let's get started!

You can then type Import/Excel into another unmarked text field, located just above where it has the normal drop down list under the Sub Items pane. Again, press Enter once the text is inputted:
The data from the Excel sheet appears to import ok into Ignition, with the rows and column locations respected, but all images, filters, colours, and cell formatting from the original document is lost.
You can of course pretty it up in Ignition, and save it as an Ignition format project file. However that Ignition file will not be able to be exported to Excel later on. This Excel AddOn is a one way import tool.

After hitting proceed it launched the Printer prefs, and I followed the instructions to select the AirPrint printer driver, and selected the AirPrint.device from the dh0:devs drawer from the folder icon next to the Port device section:
The AirPrint window appears, with a Preview pane, and a Printers section, which is blank initially.
I then hit Print and crossed my fingers. A few seconds later it printed out! Fantastic, and looks good!

You can also print (some) PDF documents. I chose the A1222 Quick start guide PDF, and it printed out perfectly, and used double sided printing:
I am very happy to have this AirPrint functionality on my A1222 (and indeed all my AmigaOS 4 machines). Thanks so much to the developers who made this possible.

When you launch RNO PDF, it launches launches a small window with an RNO PDF logo, waiting for you to load in a PDF from the right click top menus.
I tested it with the latest Amiga Addict magazine, as I have a subscription to it and receive the digital copy as it is released - I get the physical copy a few months later:
Being able to view these larger PDF files at a decent speed on the A1222 is great, and I will probably never use AmiPDF again now!
Next, I want to take a look at WaffleCopy Professional on the A1222. It is made by Andrea Palmatè.

On the left side is the ADF to real floppy disk disk copy function, and below that is the Read a real Amiga floppy disk to ADF file option.

Note that there is an option to read to the full 82 tracks if you need to for floppy disks that use the extra tracks. (some do!)
When I double click on the Workbench 1.3 ADF file on the A1222, it launches immediately into RunInUAE and boots from it:
I hope that seeing more of what the A1222 and AmigaOS 4 can do in 2025 has encouraged you to try it out for yourself. Especially if you have an A1222, X1000, X5000, Sam 460 or earlier AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition system. Or pick up an A1222 if you don't yet have an AmigaOS 4 system!
